Each member of the LFF team has an hourly charging rate and, like most professional firms, our costings are based on these rates, with the fees charged relating to the costs incurred.

The total costs are reviewed in the light of the work done and the benefit that the client has received in order to determine a fair fee.

Any initial meeting will always be free of charge.

If this meeting, as we hope, leads to LFF being asked to provide services we will let you have our best estimate of the likely fees.

We do have experience of estimating fees once we have a clear understanding of the scope of the much of the work that is needed so we are nearly always prepared to agree in advance a fee for an identified piece of work. There needs however to be an understanding that if the task is not as originally envisaged we may want to discuss further fees with you.

However many assignments cannot be very precisely defined at the start and they tend to develop as they progress. In such instances it is important that you are kept fully informed on the fees issue as the task progresses.

So there are two key points on fees:

The first is that in the majority of cases we agree a fixed fee and that is what we charge.

The second is that if a fixed fee is not appropriate we make sure at all times that there are no nasty surprises, and we do this by keeping you regularly updated on the fee position.
